Q: Is the Probationary Driving License (P License) can be converted to Competent Driving License (CDL License) one month earlier before the expiry date?

A: As according to procedures, application to converted the P License to CDL License only can be done within 7 days before the expiry date. You have 1 year to do the conversion after expiry date.

Q: My Learning Driving License (L License) had expired for more than 2 years, can I still able to renew it and do the practical test?

A: L License may be renewed for a period of 3 or 6 months but not beyond the aggregate of 2 years from the date of issuance. If beyond this period, the candidate must repeat all elements of training and test to obtain the new L License.

Q: How long will my driving license lapsed if not renewed?

A: 1 year for the P License and 3 years for CDL License. You can appeal for the renewal with valid reasons, e.g. stay in overseas, jailed or hospitalized.

Q: I'm foreigner studying / working in Malaysia, can I apply for Malaysia Driving Licence?

A: Anyone (local / foreigner) who have reached the age of 17, are allowed to secure a driving license for cars (class D / DA) and if they are 16, a B2 motorcycle license. The driving test could be in English or in Bahasa Malaysia. More Info on Procedure To Get A Driving Licence In Malaysia.

Q: My wife is a Malaysian and she need to convert her Malaysia Driving Licence to Singapore Driving Licence, Can she drive Malaysian registered vehicle in Malaysia with the Singapore Driving Licence?

A: Under Bilateral Agreement, yes, she can drive Malaysian registered vehicle in Malaysia.

Q: I'm from Pakistan, can I convert my Pakistanis Driving License to Malaysian Driving Licence?

A: Please be informed that starting on 24th September 2018, conversion of foreign driving license to Malaysian driving license has been suspended, except for diplomatic pass holder and Singapore driving license holder (for Malaysian who had converted their Malaysian driving license in order to obtain Singapore driving license) only.

Foreign license holders who wish to drive in Malaysia need to provide their valid domestic license together with International Driving Permit (IDP) or they may obtain Malaysian driving license through existing procedure at any nearest Malaysia Driving Institute.
